Lere Olayinka, spokesman for Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, has issued a sharp rebuke to Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate from the last election. In a social media post, Olayinka stated that Wike would ensure Atiku fails in any future presidential attempts, referencing Atiku’s prior decision to select former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate over Wike.
During an interview, Atiku expressed no regrets about his choice, emphasizing that a committee recommended Okowa as the top candidate. In response, Olayinka remarked, “Two years after making the @OfficialPDPNig lose a presidential election it could have won, @atiku is giving reasons he did not pick @GovWike as his running mate and that he has no regrets.”
He added, “Wike also has no regret for ensuring that he failed in the election and will make sure that he fails again and again.”
This exchange reflects ongoing tensions within the PDP and highlights the political rivalry between Wike and Atiku, as both look toward future electoral prospects.
