The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has announced a temporary electricity supply outage in parts of Abuja on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
The company said the outage was necessitated by preventive maintenance at the Central Area GIS 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja.
According to TCN, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, will be unable to supply electricity to customers in the Central Business District, Wuse Zones 1–7, including Wuse Market, Sheraton Hotel, Jabi, Utako and surrounding areas.
The outage is scheduled to last from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Wednesday.
TCN said the maintenance exercise would enable its engineers to carry out routine preventive checks on the transformer at the transmission substation.
The company said the exercise was necessary to ensure the continued reliability of the transmission infrastructure serving the affected areas.
