Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed dissatisfaction with the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, saying he would have preferred the outright removal of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike made the comment during a media parley in Abuja, where he criticized the emergency rule declared by President Bola Tinubu as an inadequate measure to address the political crisis in the state.
He maintained that his position has always been in favour of removing the governor rather than imposing an emergency administration. Wike and Fubara have been locked in a prolonged political standoff, which escalated in recent months, leading to growing instability in the state.
The state of emergency, declared last month, was aimed at restoring order following increased tension and security concerns linked to the political rift between both men.
