Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic tanker explosion that occurred in the Karu area of Abuja on Wednesday, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. In a statement released by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima extended his condolences to the families affected by this devastating incident.
“My deepest condolences go out to the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy. No words can adequately express the sorrow we feel for your loss. The Federal Government stands with you in this difficult time,” Shettima said.
The Vice President also expressed solidarity with those injured and assured them of the government’s full support in their recovery. He commended the swift response of emergency services, including the Federal Road Safety Corps, Red Cross, Fire Service, and security personnel, for their efforts in rescuing victims and providing immediate medical assistance.
Shettima emphasized the importance of greater road safety awareness and stricter adherence to safety measures to prevent future tragedies. President Bola Tinubu has directed a thorough investigation into the incident and has ordered priority treatment for the injured in medical facilities across the capital.
Tinubu shared his condolences with the families of the deceased and prayed for the souls of those lost in the explosion, asking for divine comfort for the bereaved families.
