The factional Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Nyesom Wike camp within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unveiled a significant internal restructuring plan aimed at reorganizing troubled state chapters and preparing for fresh congresses and a national convention. Chairman of the factional BoT, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, announced this initiative during the opening session of the board’s meeting at the residence of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Ohuabunwa emphasized the commitment to rebuilding the PDP from within to restore public confidence in its internal processes. He stated that the faction is already making meaningful progress, including the establishment of credible caretaker committees. This initiative is set to facilitate transparent congresses and a subsequent convention process.

The senator expressed full support for the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led National Working Committee (NWC), pledging to work together to ensure adherence to the law and party guidance. He underscored the necessity of the BoT in providing stability and moral guidance to the party, stating that it should steer the PDP away from divisive tendencies.

Ohuabunwa called for unity among members as they work through the restructuring agenda, articulating a clear duty to consolidate ongoing reforms and deepen internal cohesion. He described the BoT as the conscience of the party, tasked with upholding legality and ensuring the PDP stands strong in adherence to federal laws and electoral guidelines.

The meeting was attended by several prominent figures, including the factional National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and former governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, indicating a collective effort towards rebuilding the party.
