The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term in office is assured, citing key reforms and achievements recorded by the administration.

In a statement signed by Patience Ituke on behalf of the Director of Press at the Ministry of Defence, Matawalle highlighted the administration’s progress in the areas of security, economy, and infrastructure.

According to the statement, more than 8,000 terrorists and bandits were killed in 2024, while 11,600 suspected criminals were arrested. Over 10,000 weapons were also reportedly recovered during the same period. The minister said these outcomes were the result of ongoing security operations and the establishment of the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell (MAAKFC), designed to improve coordination in counter-kidnapping efforts.

Matawalle also noted the administration’s economic initiatives, such as the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development, which he said was aimed at boosting agriculture in the northern region and lowering food prices. He pointed to the recent fall in grain prices as evidence of the ministry’s early impact.

On infrastructure, the minister cited ongoing road construction and transport network improvements in the North as part of the administration’s broader development agenda.

He further expressed support for the local government autonomy law, which he said would strengthen governance at the grassroots level and improve public accountability.

Matawalle concluded by saying that based on the administration’s current trajectory, Tinubu’s chances of securing re-election in 2027 appear strong.
