Hon. Otobong Bob, representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency, has been appointed as the new Leader of the House during a plenary chaired by Speaker Elder Udeme Otong. This change follows the defection of 24 out of 26 members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), resulting in a shift in the Assembly’s majority.

The PDP, which previously held control, lost its status as the APC gained the majority. Hon. Bob replaces Hon. Sunday Johnny, the former Leader from Onna State Constituency, who remains with the PDP to show loyalty to former Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Additionally, Dr. Nsidibe Akata, representing Eket State Constituency, has been named the new Deputy Leader, taking over from Hon. Bob. This restructuring reflects the current political dynamics within the Assembly.
