Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo sociocultural organization, has emphasized its focus on the socioeconomic wellbeing of Nigerians rather than engaging in partisan politics.
Dr. Ezichi Chukwu, the National Publicity Secretary, stated that Ohanaeze does not affiliate with any political party and is committed to advocating for strong and independent institutions. He reiterated the organization’s call for restructuring, viewing it as essential for achieving true federalism, which includes decentralization of power and resource control.
Chukwu highlighted that true federalism would enhance institutional accountability and foster healthy competition among regions. Ohanaeze’s stance prioritizes the welfare of citizens over political affiliations.
