A Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled that the Nigeria Police Force is prohibited from presenting DNA test results in the ongoing paternity case involving former Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Kabiru Turaki (SAN). Turaki is facing charges related to false marriage and adultery stemming from a dispute with Ms. Hadiza Musa Baffa.

Justice Inyang Ekwo adjourned the matter to allow the police to respond to Turaki’s application that seeks to prevent the use of the DNA results obtained from DNA Labs Limited. The court had previously declined Turaki’s motion because the respondents had not been properly notified.

Turaki’s legal team alleges that he was coerced into providing a DNA sample after being detained for six hours at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID). Turaki contended that the sample was collected against his will.

The case has been scheduled for further hearing on February 28.
