The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has categorically denied any interest in the upcoming 2027 Niger State governorship election following the release of an unauthorized political write-up titled “Malagi 2027.” This article posited various political scenarios concerning the election. In a statement issued by the minister’s office, it clarified that the piece, authored by one of his aides, Sa’idu Enagi, does not represent the minister’s views or intentions.

The disclaimer strongly disavowed the contents of the write-up, urging the public to disregard the speculation surrounding the minister’s political ambitions. Idris emphasized his dedication to his current responsibilities and expressed a zero-tolerance policy for distractions linked to premature electioneering activities. He stated that he neither directed nor approved the publication of the article.

To address the situation, the minister has initiated an investigation into the matter. As part of this response, the aide responsible for the write-up has been suspended immediately. The statement underscored the minister’s commitment to maintaining focus on his duties at the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

Furthermore, the communication highlighted the positive relationship between Idris and the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, indicating that both officials remain committed to collaborative efforts aimed at the state’s development and stability. The minister reiterated that speculation regarding the 2027 elections could hinder these efforts.
