On Friday, the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army held special prayers for peace and unity in Nigeria, marking its 162nd anniversary. The prayers took place at the division’s Central Mosque in Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna, led by Chief Imam Lt.-Col. Abubakar Yakubu.
Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, emphasized that the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2025 recognizes the army’s contributions to national security and peace. He was represented by Brig.-Gen. Mohammad Lawal, Commander of 1 Division, Equipment Support.
Saraso stated, “This annual occasion allows us to reflect on our contributions to addressing security challenges. We also honor our fallen heroes who sacrificed for Nigeria’s unity.”
He highlighted the military’s essential role in maintaining peace and stability, noting that their efforts are crucial for the nation’s well-being. “We celebrate our sacrifices to ensure Nigeria remains peaceful and united,” he added.
The GOC reiterated the importance of unity and collaboration among Nigerians to overcome challenges and build a brighter future. “By supporting one another, we can ensure peace in Nigeria,” he said.
The division is hosting the 2025 edition of this significant celebration.
