The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,531 officers to Anambra State ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s official visit scheduled for Thursday, May 8, 2025.
NSCDC State Commandant Olatunde Maku disclosed this after a strategic meeting with area commanders and senior officers at the headquarters in Awka. He said the deployment aims to secure vital infrastructure and public spaces during the high-profile visit.
The security coverage will include the airport, bridges, government buildings, parks, markets, as well as electricity and telecommunications facilities, and Solution Fun City, among other sensitive locations.
Officers from neighboring states — Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, and Delta — are also being drafted to bolster security operations.
Maku outlined the security measures, which include:
-
Covert surveillance and joint operations
-
Raids on suspected criminal hideouts
-
Crowd control along the President’s convoy routes
-
Access restriction to key locations
-
Confidence-building patrols
He emphasized that NSCDC personnel would act professionally and collaborate with other security agencies to ensure the President’s visit is incident-free. The public was urged to remain peaceful and law-abiding during the visit.
