2025 Igbo Day Will Honour Memory Of Late Patriots – Ohanaeze

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has announced that the 2025 Igbo Day celebration will be dedicated to honoring the memory of late Igbo patriots . The event, scheduled to take place in Awka, Anambra State, on Sunday, September 28, and Monday, September 29, 2025, will be themed “Onye Aghana Nwanne Ya” (Be your brother’s keeper) .

According to the national publicity secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Ezechi Chukwu, Igbo Day is a solemn and sacred occasion in the Igbo calendar, serving as a moment for collective reflection and honoring the sacrifices of late Igbo patriots and heroes . The event aims to inspire unity, justice, and peace among Ndigbo.

Senator Ned Nwoko will chair the occasion, while Senator Azuta Mbata, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, will be the chief host. The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, will serve as the host governor.

The celebration will include a Thanksgiving Service held simultaneously across various churches in Igbo land on Sunday, September 28, 2025. The event will also feature a thought-provoking public lecture with eminent scholars, cultural leaders, and stakeholders, accompanied by prayers, tributes, and performances showcasing Igbo heritage.
