Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has issued a stark warning to Nigerian politicians, particularly second-term governors and federal lawmakers, claiming that those who align with “betrayers” will face a grim fate. Speaking at the commissioning of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors headquarters in Port Harcourt, Wike emphasized that political disloyalty carries consequences.
He warned that those who support individuals who betray others will eventually experience the same treachery themselves. Drawing from his personal political experiences, Wike suggested that karma—or the spiritual laws of justice—would catch up with those who back unfaithful actors.
“Today is the 7th of February. Whoever is watching, whether you are a senator, House of Representatives member, minister, or governor supporting betrayers, people will continue to betray you in life,” he said. He added that such betrayal would bring psychological and physical consequences, leaving those affected powerless when the tables turn.
Wike highlighted that second-term governors attempting to position successors while supporting disloyal individuals would face immediate consequences once their chosen successors take office. He compared this to his own experience in Rivers State, noting that the betrayal from his successor took months, whereas others would face faster repercussions.
He framed political loyalty as both a moral and spiritual obligation, stressing that “betrayal will follow you everywhere” for those who violate this principle. The minister also explained that the infrastructure he commissioned, including a radio station and situation room, would serve as a base for politicians committed to President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, in contrast to those he labeled as unfaithful.
