Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of blaming him for almost every problem that occurs in the governor’s office or residence.
Wike made the claim during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Tuesday, amid the growing political disagreement surrounding the Rainbow Coalition’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
According to Wike, Abdulrazaq has repeatedly linked him to events in Kwara State, joking that the governor would even blame him whenever he encounters a snake or another reptile.
“The governor of Kwara, so unfortunate, anytime he sees a snake, it’s Wike. Anytime he sees a reptile, it’s Wike. Any day he doesn’t eat, it’s Wike,” Wike said.
The former Rivers State governor also accused Abdulrazaq of spending too much time on political gossip instead of concentrating on the responsibilities of his office.
“I’ve never seen people who will give time to gossip more than the work they have been given,” Wike said.
Wike’s comments came in response to criticism from some All Progressives Congress governors over the activities of the Rainbow Coalition, which has expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election while operating outside the APC structure.
The FCT minister alleged that Abdulrazaq was using the political dispute to divert attention from problems within the Kwara political landscape. He also questioned the governor’s handling of political relationships with elected lawmakers from the state.
“He has three serving senators; he changed all of them. He has House of Representatives members; he changed all of them. Now, if you are a good politician, you’ll see it doesn’t look good,” Wike said.
The latest exchange adds to the growing political tension among politicians across different camps ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Wike continuing to defend his decision to support Tinubu despite disagreements with some APC figures.
