Former Edo State governor Adams Oshiomhole has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for supporting him during a period he described as political isolation after his removal as National Chairman of the APC.

Speaking in Benin City at an event marking the distribution of 54 construction equipment to the 18 local government areas of Edo State, Oshiomhole reflected on the events that followed his exit from party leadership. He said many members of the APC distanced themselves from him at the time.

According to the senator representing Edo North, he was largely avoided by party associates who feared being perceived as acting against party interests. He described the period as one of loneliness and political abandonment.

Oshiomhole recounted that Wike reached out to him during that time and invited him to Port Harcourt to commission a flyover project. He added that the FCT minister later conferred on him one of Rivers State’s highest honours, a gesture he said restored his morale.

While noting that Wike once teased him about his political setback, Oshiomhole maintained that the minister’s outreach demonstrated solidarity. He also commended Wike’s performance in the FCT, particularly during recent local government elections.

He further described Wike as the first individual from the South-South geopolitical zone to serve as FCT minister in a manner that, in his view, has reshaped development in the capital city, and applauded the cordial relationship between the minister and Edo State leadership.
