The United States has announced the list of countries eligible for its 2025 Visa Waiver Programme (VWP), and notable exclusions include the United Kingdom and all African nations. This decision means that countries like Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa will not have access to visa-free travel to the US under the updated programme.

While the UK was left out of the programme, it remains eligible under specific conditions. This marks a significant shift, as no African nation has been granted visa-free entry in the latest update. The exclusion of these countries highlights ongoing concerns related to border security and diplomatic relations.

In contrast, Romania has been added to the list of eligible countries, reflecting the US government’s evolving approach to these issues. The Visa Waiver Programme allows citizens of participating countries to travel to the US for tourism or business for up to 90 days without obtaining a visa. However, travelers must secure a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) prior to their journey.

The full list of countries eligible for the 2025 VWP includes 40 nations, such as Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, and others, while notably excluding all African nations. This decision underscores the US government’s focus on enhancing security measures and prioritizing countries with strong diplomatic ties.
