Troops Kill Kidnap Suspects, Recover Weapons in Plateau Raid

Troops of the 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace have raided a kidnappers’ hideout in Plateau State, killing suspects and recovering weapons during a swift operation based on credible intelligence..
The raid, conducted on January 6, 2026, targeted a location near Lantom Village in the Kadarko District of Wase Local Government Area, aiming to disrupt kidnapping and armed robbery activities in the region.

According to Captain Joshua Atu John, Acting Military Information Officer of the JTF, four suspects were initially arrested, and weapons including a fabricated rifle, an axe, and a machete were recovered. Two accomplices escaped with an AK-47 rifle.
The arrested suspects later cooperated with troops, revealing the location of a hidden arms and ammunition cache on the outskirts of Kadarko. When they attempted to snatch a soldier’s weapon while leading troops to the cache, they were killed.

Follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing gang members and recover the missing rifle.
Major General EF Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of JTF Operation Enduring Peace, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience.

He urged residents to continue supporting security efforts, emphasizing that local intelligence remains crucial to the success of ongoing operations.
