Member representing Agege Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr. Wale Ahmed, has urged critics of President Bola Tinubu to reconsider their plans to challenge him in the 2027 election, asserting that a second term for the President is assured.

This statement comes despite opposition parties—including the Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party, and the African Democratic Congress—committing to unseat Tinubu in the upcoming general election. Notable figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi have been vocal in their criticism of the Tinubu administration.

At a stakeholders’ briefing at the Agege Local Government Secretariat, Ahmed argued that just as late President Muhammadu Buhari from the North was allowed to serve two terms, it is only fair that Tinubu from the South be permitted the same opportunity. He praised Tinubu’s bold reforms and foreign engagements, claiming they have earned Nigeria international respect and laid the groundwork for long-term economic recovery.

“All his opponents should rest and allow him to have a second term. By God’s grace, his second term is assured. I will mobilize my constituents to ensure Tinubu is returned for another term,” Ahmed declared.

Defending the recent removal of fuel subsidies, Ahmed described it as a courageous decision reflecting Tinubu’s long-term vision for the country. He pointed to improvements in Nigeria’s foreign reserves and foreign direct investment as evidence of positive economic changes.

He highlighted significant infrastructure projects like the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway and the Abuja–Kano dual carriageway rehabilitation as proof of the administration’s commitment to development.

The event attracted various local leaders and representatives, who commended Ahmed for delivering dividends of democracy to his constituency through projects aimed at youth and women empowerment, health services, and educational support.
