Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has unveiled an inspiring roadmap for his second term in office, reaffirming his commitment to building Anambra into a modern, green, and globally competitive homeland. With a reputation for bold reforms and transformative leadership, Soludo’s new agenda promises to accelerate progress across all sectors of the state’s development.
Speaking through his Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, the governor laid out a visionary plan centered on sustainability, innovation, and inclusive growth hallmarks that have defined his first three years in office. Soludo’s second term will focus on scaling up key infrastructure projects, deepening health and educational equity, and turning Anambra into a regional hub for smart living, eco-tourism, and industrial excellence.
At the heart of the plan is the creation of three revolutionary smart cities, Awka 2.0, Next Onitsha, and the Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City (AMIC). These cities will redefine urban development in Nigeria, combining technology, sustainability, and enterprise to create jobs, attract investment, and improve living standards.
Transportation will undergo a major overhaul, with a proposed state rail network connecting key commercial zones, the dualization of critical highways, and the introduction of an integrated mass transit system featuring BRT buses, water transport, and digital ticketing designed to reduce congestion and carbon emissions.
On the healthcare front, Soludo is raising the bar with plans to establish a state-of-the-art Comprehensive Oncology Centre to tackle the rising threat of cancer nationwide. The facility will complement a growing telemedicine system that brings digital healthcare to remote areas, ensuring no Anambra citizen is left behind. “Every life must count,” Aburime stressed, underscoring Soludo’s people-centered approach.
Tourism and culture are also key to the governor’s economic strategy. Iconic natural sites such as Ogbunike Cave, Owerre-Ezukala Waterfalls, and Agulu Lake will be developed into eco-tourism destinations, backed by luxury lodging, enhanced security, and world-class infrastructure. The Marriott Hotel project in Awka will serve as the centerpiece of a new era in business and leisure tourism.
Moreover, Soludo aims to revive Anambra’s cultural heritage as a force for economic empowerment, promoting local traditions in a way that respects history while embracing modernity. In education, a robust bursary program will be launched to ensure access for every student, reaffirming the governor’s dedication to human capital development.
