Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has called on traditional rulers across the South-East region to work collaboratively for the area’s sustainable development and cultural preservation. Speaking during a South-East Traditional Rulers’ Council meeting in Awka, Soludo emphasized that unity and cultural pride are vital to regional progress.
He highlighted the importance of every stakeholder playing a meaningful role and lamented the erosion of foundational values and traditions within Igbo society. “The Igbo land I knew as a child is no longer the same,” he said, urging a return to celebrating hard work, integrity, and the region’s rich heritage.
Soludo also noted that South-East governors are already working together and called on traditional institutions to join in rebuilding and restoring core values. “A society becomes what it celebrates,” he said, warning against the glorification of ill-gotten wealth.
Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council, Dr. E.C. Okeke, praised Soludo for his leadership and reaffirmed the council’s support for unified regional efforts.
