At least six people have been killed and around 59 others abducted in separate attacks across communities in Katsina State. The most recent incident occurred late Sunday night in Layin Gara village, Funtua Local Government Area, where attackers killed two individuals and kidnapped 16 others.

A local resident reported that the assailants operated for several hours without facing any resistance. Earlier, on Saturday, bandits attacked Maikuma village in Dandume LGA, resulting in four deaths and the abduction of about 43 individuals.

The attackers, equipped with sophisticated weapons and riding motorcycles, invaded the communities in large numbers. “They moved from house to house for hours before retreating into the forest with their victims,” a source revealed.

Basiru Musa, the Chairman of Dandume LGA, confirmed the attack and expressed concern over the persistent insecurity, stating, “The bandits came in their numbers—over 100 of them. Their goal was to kill and abduct as many people as possible.”

He lamented the limitations faced by security forces, which were unable to respond effectively during the attacks. Musa urged the government to intensify efforts to address the ongoing security crisis in the region.
