Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has made his first major appointment following his designation by President Bola Tinubu amid the state’s emergency rule. In a statement released on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Ibas announced the appointment of Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG).
Ibas emphasized that Worika’s selection was based on careful consideration of his qualifications, extensive experience, and performance during the selection process. This appointment is part of Ibas’s commitment to leveraging the human capital of the Rivers people to achieve peace, stability, and security in the state.
In a related development, Ibas announced the resignation of the state’s Head of Service, Dr. George Nweke, expressing regret over his departure and recognizing his contributions during his tenure. Ibas appointed Dr. Mrs. Iyingi Brown, the Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service, as the acting Head of Service.
