Governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have rejected Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary and urged the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to reschedule the long-anticipated National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to March 13, 2025.
In a communique delivered by Bauchi State Governor and PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman, Bala Mohammed, the governors reaffirmed their support for the recent Court of Appeal ruling on the National Secretary position. They urged the NWC to implement the judgment effectively.
Call for NEC Meeting Rescheduling
The PDP Governors’ Forum acknowledged that all legal notices necessary for convening the NEC meeting had been examined and deemed valid. As a result, they advised the NWC to shift the meeting to March 13, allowing for proper preparation and compliance with legal procedures.
Commendation for Security Forces & Concern Over Hardship
The governors praised Nigeria’s Armed Forces and security agencies for their ongoing efforts to combat insecurity but expressed concern over the resurgence of non-state actors threatening national stability.
Additionally, the forum criticized the Federal Government’s macroeconomic policies, citing their role in worsening hardship across the country. The governors called for a review or overhaul of these policies to ease the economic strain on Nigerians.
