Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, has urged the Inspector General of Police and the Abia State Government to swiftly apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the recent killings of two Chinese nationals and a police inspector in Abia State.
The victims were ambushed by gunmen while being transported to a mining site in Isuikwuato, Abia State. Kalu, who chairs the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission, condemned the brutal attack, labeling it a “deliberate and unprovoked assault on expatriates and security personnel.”
In a statement from his media office, Kalu expressed his dismay over the attacks, stating, “Despite our rigorous efforts to combat insecurity, crimes continue. I strongly condemn these tragic and unprovoked incidents that resulted in the deaths of two Chinese expatriates and a police officer, along with several injuries near the Huan Cheng Mining Quarry site in Agukwu Amaya.”
He called on the Inspector General of Police and relevant security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice and emphasized the need for measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Kalu extended his condolences to the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China and the families affected, urging security agencies to enhance protections for both citizens and expatriates, particularly during this critical time for the country’s economic growth and development.
