President Bola Tinubu has postponed his official visit to Kaduna State and will instead travel to Benue State on June 18, 2025, to address ongoing conflicts affecting communities in the region.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed the change in a statement. The visit aims to assess the recurring crises that have resulted in significant loss of life and destruction.
Originally scheduled to visit Kaduna to commission various projects, Tinubu’s trip there has been rescheduled for June 19, 2025. During his visit to Benue, the President plans to meet with stakeholders, including traditional rulers, political and community leaders, and youth groups, to seek lasting solutions to the violence.
To prepare for the visit, Tinubu has sent several high-ranking officials to Benue, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police. A town hall meeting with stakeholders is also planned.
The President has previously condemned the violence in Benue and urged leaders and residents to promote peace and understanding, extending condolences to the families affected by the crisis.
