Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reacted to the growing political disagreement between Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress..
The dispute centres on Wike’s Rainbow Coalition, a cross-party political movement backing President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
The Progressive Governors Forum, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, recently rejected the coalition, with the APC governors saying they would not support alliances that could affect the party’s candidates or Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Davido appeared to respond to the unfolding political drama after recently visiting Wike in Abuja following the Osun State governorship election.
The singer shared a video featuring Wike and Uzodimma on his Instagram Story and accompanied it with the caption, “Movie loading.”
He also added a popcorn emoji to the post, suggesting that he was following the political developments with interest.
Wike, who remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, is serving as FCT minister under President Tinubu’s administration despite the political differences between the PDP and the ruling APC.
The former Rivers State governor openly supported Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election despite the PDP fielding Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate.
The disagreement over the Rainbow Coalition has added to the political activity surrounding the 2027 elections, with Wike defending his right to participate in political alliances while some APC governors have publicly opposed the initiative.
