Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has reaffirmed his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating he has no plans to leave the party. During an interactive session with the Nigeria Guild of Editors, Mbah emphasized his loyalty, pointing to the PDP flag behind him as a symbol of his affiliation.
He acknowledged the challenges facing the PDP but noted that these issues are not unique to his party, as other political entities in Nigeria are also experiencing difficulties. Mbah expressed confidence that the party would resolve its problems soon.
Addressing the topic of independent candidacy, he clarified that the Nigerian constitution does not support independent candidates, necessitating party affiliation for political participation. Mbah highlighted a collaborative spirit within the party, mentioning that his political rival from the 2023 governorship election, Chijioke Edeoga, has returned to the PDP to work together for the progress of Enugu State.
Mbah concluded by emphasizing the importance of collaboration and governance in achieving common goals for the state.
