The Federal Government has clarified that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) remains the only authorized body for coordinating admissions into Nigeria’s tertiary institutions. This statement, made by the spokesperson for the Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade, comes in response to rumors suggesting that the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been scrapped.

Folasade emphasized that JAMB is the legally empowered organization responsible for conducting entrance examinations and overseeing admissions. She urged the public to disregard any contrary information.

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency and fairness in the admissions process. The recent reforms have also allowed candidates without a credit in Mathematics in their Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) to gain admission into programs in the Faculty of Arts, aimed at expanding access to tertiary education.
