Natives of Abuja, organized under the FCT Youth Stakeholders’ Forum, marched to the National Assembly on Wednesday to protest the appointment of Mr. Solomon Adodo, a native of Benue State, to the board of the newly established North Central Development Commission (NCDC).

The protesters called on Senate President Godswill Akpabio to reverse the appointment, expressing concerns that the NCDC should represent the interests of all states in the region, not just Benue. They carried placards with messages such as “NCDC is not only for Benue State” and “Don’t shortchange the people of the FCT,” highlighting their demand for fair representation.

The demonstration underscores ongoing tensions regarding regional appointments and the perceived lack of inclusion for residents of the Federal Capital Territory. The protesters emphasized that Benue State already has multiple representatives and called for more equitable representation in the commission.
