The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that factional divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have effectively ended following the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the appeal filed by the Kabiru Turaki-led group over the party’s disputed Ibadan National Convention.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday at his Abuja residence shortly after the ruling, Wike said the apex court judgment has finally resolved the leadership crisis that had split the opposition party.
“The Supreme Court judgment has now made it known there is only one PDP, and we no longer hear faction. Faction does not exist any longer in the Peoples Democratic Party,” he stated.
The Supreme Court had earlier voided the PDP national convention held in Ibadan on November 15–16, 2025, which produced the Tanimu Turaki-led executives. The court held that the convention was conducted in violation of court orders and amounted to an abuse of court process.
The ruling is seen as bringing an end to months of internal leadership dispute within the party.
Wike also claimed that the judgment has political consequences for key figures in the rival faction, including Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, saying their political strategy had been undermined.
“I don’t know where they are going to pitch their tent,” he added.
The FCT Minister further reaffirmed that the Abdulrahman-led leadership structure remains the legitimate executive of the party, noting that it was validated at a separate convention held in March 2026, which he said was backed by his political camp.
He also ruled out any possibility of integrating members aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) group led by Atiku Abubakar into the PDP, describing them as “electoral liabilities rather than assets.”
