Former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai may soon appear before the State House of Assembly to explain his alleged role in the huge debt burden left by his administration.
This followed Tuesday’s setting up of a probe committee by the State House of Assembly.
The Assembly at plenary on Tuesday, presided by the Speaker, Yusuf Dahiru, tasked the committee to embark “on fact-finding of financial dealings, loans and grants and other projects implementation from 2015-2023”.
The probe panel was further tasked to invite El-Rufai and other notable personalities, including the former Speaker of the 8th and 9th Assembly.
Others to be invited are former commissioners of Finance and ex-commissioners of Budget and Planning.
Recall that Gov. Uba Sani had lamented the huge debt burden left by the past administration which he claimed was incapacitating his government.
The governor revealed at a Town Hall Meeting that El-Rufai’s administration left behind huge debt burden of 587 million dollars and another 85 billion Naira in debt in the state.
