Catholic Archbishop of Ibadan, Most Rev. Gabriel Abegunrin has urged Nigerians to shun corruption, tribalism, nepotism, terrorism, kidnapping, warmongering, greed and injustice.
In his Easter message on Sunday, Abegunrin enjoined Nigerians to embrace integrity, true brotherhood, love, peaceful co-existence, contentment, equity and fairness, instead.
“We have seen how shamelessness, scandals, powerlessness and weaknesses were suddenly transformed into glory and honour and given pre-eminence, laudation and applause.
“We must allow the power of Christ to bring about transformation in our country and allow it to permeate every aspect of our lives.
“Easter is a season of hope; let’s cling to hope in Christ’s resurrection for revival,” he stated.
Abegunrin stated that Easter calls humans to a renewed understanding of the sanctity of life and the need to promote it with vigour.
“No-one should be prevented from enjoying the gift of life from God; both natural and supernatural life.
“We must stand together to shun all anti-life practices, eradicate the culture of death, and shun the promotion of abortion or use of contraceptives.
“It is our earnest prayer that the life, love and peace of Christ will reign supreme in our lives,” Abegunrin also stated.
The archbishop enjoined Christians to reciprocate Jesus’ love at Easter by loving one another and by preaching the gospel and message of joy all over the world.
