Acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amb. Iliya Damagum, has cautioned party members to stop demarketing the party. Damagum made this statement during the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting at the party’s national secretariat, which was attended by Senator Samuel Anyanwu. This meeting marked the first since the National Executive Committee (NEC) recognized him as national secretary.

Damagum emphasized that the PDP remains united despite various challenges. He stated that the party is preparing for the next NEC meeting and warned that those who attempt to undermine the party would be monitored and appropriate actions would be taken.

He urged members to act as ambassadors for the party, highlighting the importance of protecting the party’s legacy and contributions to the citizens while it was in power. Damagum also criticized the ruling APC for allegedly trying to buy off PDP members, asserting that the upcoming 2027 election is fundamentally a contest between Nigerians and the APC.

In addition, he stressed the need for democracy to flourish by listening to the voices of the people and enacting policies that reflect their needs. The PDP also announced that it would begin selling nomination forms for the 2025 bye-elections, detailing various constituencies across several states that will be involved in the elections.
