Nigerian social media critic and influencer Martins Vincent Otse aka Very Dark Man has been ordered to take down defamatory posts targeted at Femi Falana (SAN) and his son Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz.
Justice M.O Ipswich of the Lagos State High Court issued the standing order on Tuesday, after ruling that Very Dark Man’s writings were detrimental to their public image and reputation.
According to Justice Idowu, the posts shared by Very Dark Man on his social media pages on September 24, 2024, relating Bobrisky to Falz and his father, were damaging to their reputation and libelous.
“According to the applicants (Falz and Falana), the defendant (VeryDarkMan) knew these statements (Bobrisky’s claims) were false and untrue but proceeded to publish them to injure their reputation.
“Furthermore, the defamatory statements are still trending on the defendant (VeryDarkMan)’s several online platforms and the injury to their reputation continues as long as the publication remains online.”
The court verdict comes after an audio recording of Very Dark Man went public, in which Bobrisky claimed to have paid N10 million to Femi Falana in order to obtain a presidential pardon, implicating Falz in the case.
