Coup Controversy: Military Interrogates MD, Raids Ex-Gov’s House

Reports indicate that military investigators are interrogating a Managing Director of a Federal Government agency in the South South region as part of an inquiry into an alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu. Intelligence sources revealed that the MD was arrested for reportedly transferring a significant sum of money to Timipre Sylva, a former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, who is suspected of financing the coup.

Investigators believe this fund transfer is linked to the coup plot. The MD is currently being questioned about the purpose of the money. Meanwhile, military operatives raided Sylva’s Abuja residence over the weekend, arresting his younger brother, Paga, and his driver. Sylva was reportedly abroad at the time of the raid and had planned to return to Nigeria before canceling his trip upon hearing about the arrests of the coup leaders.

Sources indicated that the military’s actions were part of a wider investigation into a coup plot allegedly involving multiple officers within the military. A previous statement from the military indicated that 16 officers were detained for breaches of military regulations, but reports from online platforms suggest these officers were involved in planning the coup.

The situation raises significant concerns about security and stability within Nigeria’s political landscape, as military authorities continue to investigate the alleged conspiracy.
