Four students from the Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA), have been abducted by armed bandits in the Paris Quarters area of Dutsinma, Katsina State. The incident occurred around 2:20 AM on Sunday, when the attackers, armed with AK-47 rifles and disguised, stormed the neighborhood and kidnapped the students.

Following the distress call, security operatives were deployed to the scene, but the assailants had already fled with their victims. Dutsinma has been a focal point for security issues in Katsina State, facing ongoing challenges related to banditry and cattle rustling, despite various government and security interventions.

As of now, there has been no official response from the state police spokesperson or government officials regarding the incident. However, reports indicate that security forces have initiated efforts to locate and rescue the abducted students safely.

Nigeria has seen an alarming increase in student abductions in recent years, underscoring the country’s escalating insecurity. Previous incidents include the abduction of students from Greenfield University in Kaduna State in April 2021, where several students were tragically killed during their captivity, and the kidnapping of students from Confluence University in Kogi State in May 2024.

The recent abduction is part of a troubling trend that raises concerns about the safety of students across the nation.
