The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned Senator Ali Ndume following his comments that President Bola Tinubu could suffer the same political fate as former President Goodluck Jonathan, who lost his re-election bid in 2015.

Ndume, speaking on a TV program, said Tinubu risks defeat in 2027 if he fails to address rising economic hardship and public dissatisfaction. He drew parallels between current endorsements for Tinubu and those Jonathan received before his loss, noting that support from governors doesn’t guarantee victory.

He also criticized internal discussions around automatic re-election tickets for lawmakers, warning it could alienate grassroots party supporters.

While the APC acknowledged Ndume as a respected member with the right to his opinion, the party’s spokesperson Bala Ibrahim stated that all views must align with party discipline and rules. He noted that APC allows diverse perspectives but has structures in place to sanction members if necessary.

The development reflects growing concern within the party about early signs of internal friction ahead of the 2027 elections.
