The Abia State Police Command has officially disbanded its Anti-Cultism Unit due to allegations of unprofessional conduct. This action was announced in a statement released on Tuesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka.
In addition to disbanding the unit, the command also demoted Corporal Okonkwo Ebuka, attached to the Area Command in Aba, from his rank to Constable. The corporal had been found guilty of unprofessional behavior following an internal investigation and orderly room trial.
The decision aligns with the vision of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to foster a professionally competent and people-friendly police force.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, reiterated the command’s commitment to upholding professionalism and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct among officers.
