In a heartfelt New Year’s broadcast, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm wishes to all Nigerians, expressing hope for a prosperous and fulfilling 2025. He acknowledged the hopes and aspirations that the new year brings while reflecting on the challenges faced in 2024.

“Our journey into 2025 comes with renewed optimism,” President Tinubu stated. “By the grace of God, this year holds great promise. We are committed to fulfilling our collective desires and improving the lives of all Nigerians.”

The President highlighted positive economic indicators, noting a gradual decline in fuel prices, foreign trade surpluses for three consecutive quarters, and a strengthening Naira against the US dollar. He emphasized the stock market’s impressive growth, which has generated trillions of naira in wealth and a surge in foreign investments, signaling renewed confidence in Nigeria’s economy.

However, he acknowledged that high food and essential drug costs continue to burden many households. “In 2025, our government is committed to intensifying efforts to lower these costs by boosting food production and promoting local manufacturing of essential drugs,” he assured citizens.

In a bid to further enhance economic stability, the President announced the establishment of the National Credit Guarantee Company. This initiative aims to expand access to credit for individuals and critical sectors, particularly for underserved groups like women and youth. The company, set to begin operations before the end of the second quarter, will collaborate with various government and financial institutions to bolster the economy.

On a personal note, President Tinubu expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him as the nation’s leader. “Your confidence humbles me, and I promise to continue serving you diligently,” he said.

He urged all citizens to unite in fostering a sense of citizenship and ethical responsibility. “To achieve our national goals, we must become better citizens and remain devoted to Nigeria,” he declared, announcing the forthcoming launch of the National Values Charter aimed at promoting patriotism and shared values.

In closing, President Tinubu called on governors and local leaders to collaborate with the federal government to leverage emerging opportunities in agriculture, livestock, and tax reforms. He commended initiatives such as the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for public transport and the integration of electric vehicles into the national energy mix.

“Together, let us stay the course of nation-building,” he urged, expressing confidence that the sacrifices of the past months will pave the way for a brighter future.

As Nigerians step into 2025, the President’s message resonates with hope and determination, emphasizing a collective effort towards a prosperous and united Nigeria.

God bless you all, and may God bless our beloved country, Nigeria.
