Former senator Dino Melaye on Thursday claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is panicking due to defections to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he described as the only opposition strong enough to challenge the APC in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Channels Television Morning Briefs, Melaye noted the growing movement of politicians from various parties into the ADC and questioned why the APC, despite controlling 32 governorships, appears so fearful.
Now an ADC member, Melaye also accused Bola Tinubu of seeking a “coronation” rather than a legitimate election, suggesting that the president intends to establish a monarchical-style system in Nigeria.
He stressed that the concern extends beyond party politics, framing it as a matter of protecting democratic processes ahead of the 2027 elections.
