A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has attended the Independent National Electoral Commission’s quarterly consultative meeting with political parties in Abuja, presenting itself as the party’s national leadership.

The group, led by its National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, and National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, was seen occupying seats designated for the PDP leadership at the meeting held at INEC headquarters.

Also present at the gathering were the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, as well as chairmen and representatives of other registered political parties.

Reports from the meeting indicated that INEC provided official seating arrangements for the delegation, with Mohammed taking the position reserved for the “PDP Chairman” and Anyanwu seated in the space marked for the “PDP National Secretary.”

The development comes days after a Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan delivered a ruling nullifying the PDP National Convention held in Oyo State on November 15, 2025.

Justice Uche Agomoh, who presided over the case, restrained members of the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee from parading themselves as the party’s national officers.

The court held that the convention was conducted in violation of existing court orders and ruled that the party must operate under a caretaker committee until a valid national convention is properly convened.

The Turaki-led faction had earlier sought judicial recognition of the convention and validation of the executives elected at the event.

With the court decision and the appearance of Wike’s faction at the INEC meeting, the group is now seen as gaining increased influence over the party’s national affairs.
