Senator Ali Ndume has warned that rising dissatisfaction across Northern Nigeria could translate into serious electoral backlash if the concerns of the region are not urgently addressed by the Federal Government.

Speaking on ARISE Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday, the Borno South lawmaker dismissed claims that the North is content with the current state of affairs, insisting that widespread frustration is already brewing beneath the surface.

Ndume said the warning should not be taken lightly, stressing that public anger, if ignored, often finds expression at the polls. He noted that the situation can still be salvaged if decisive corrective steps are taken by the President.

The senator disclosed that Northern elders had repeatedly sought dialogue with President Bola Tinubu and that he personally participated in meetings where key issues affecting the region were raised and assurances given.

According to him, those engagements stalled shortly after, leaving many grievances unresolved and further deepening the sense of alienation in the North.

While distancing President Tinubu from direct blame, Ndume argued that the President is being poorly served by advisers who lack grassroots reach, political insight and a true national outlook.

He cautioned that unless these concerns are urgently addressed, the current grumbling in the North could grow louder and ultimately shape electoral outcomes in ways the government may not anticipate.
