Former Abia State governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no credible challenger ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking to journalists at his country home in Igbere, Abia State, Kalu expressed strong confidence that the president would secure victory without difficulty. According to him, Tinubu is well-positioned to win the election convincingly, including in Abia State.
Kalu, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), also said the party is optimistic about taking over Abia State from the Labour Party–led government, which he claimed has failed to fulfil its campaign promises.
On his ambition to return to the Senate for a third term, the former governor said his legislative record speaks for itself. He noted that his performance places him among the most impactful lawmakers in the Red Chamber, adding that this forms the basis of his decision to seek re-election.
The senator also reacted to criticisms from the Abia State government over his comments on the APC’s prospects in the state, describing their response as unfortunate. Addressing claims of internal divisions within the APC in Abia, Kalu dismissed such assertions, insisting that the party remains united in the state.
