Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that members of the family of late former President Muhammadu Buhari have begun speaking negatively about him barely days after his death.

Sowore made the claim in a video broadcast by Sahara TV, where he expressed shock that criticisms of the former president were allegedly coming from within his own household so soon after his burial.

According to Sowore, Buhari had not even “dried up in his grave” before his wife and children were reportedly making comments portraying him in a bad light. He further claimed that during a recent discussion, someone suggested that Buhari’s wife should be restrained because, according to him, she was “talking too much” and saying many negative things about the late president.

In his words: “Buhari, he has not even dried up in his grave, his children and his wife are already saying that he is a bad person. Somebody was saying yesterday that they need to go and tie down the wife because she is talking too much and too many bad things about Buhari.”

The comments, made between the 3:44 and 4:00 mark of the video, have since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians debating the propriety of such allegations and the broader implications for discussions about Buhari’s legacy.

As of the time of this report, no official response has been issued by members of Buhari’s family regarding Sowore’s claims. The statements remain Sowore’s personal assertions and have not been independently verified.
