The Jigawa State Police Command has imposed a total ban on the sale, possession, and use of fireworks, knockouts, and pili cards during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. This decision was announced in a statement by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam.

The ban aims to mitigate security and safety risks, as fireworks can trigger public panic, cause injuries, and damage property. Adam stressed the need for caution, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with health issues.

Parents and guardians are urged to ensure compliance with the directive, as those found violating it will face arrest and prosecution. The police have deployed personnel to strategic locations, including markets, churches, and public gatherings, to enforce the ban.

The police command has communicated that strict enforcement measures will be in place, including checkpoints and patrols throughout the state. They have pledged to maintain law and order during the festive period.

The Jigawa police expressed their desire for residents to have a peaceful and joyful holiday season, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation with security agencies to achieve a safe environment for all.
