Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, has publicly expressed forgiveness towards individuals who betrayed her husband during the 2023 election cycle. In her newly released memoir, The Journey of Grace: Giving Thanks in All Things, she emphasizes her choice for peace and the importance of moving forward without holding grudges.

The memoir, coinciding with her 65th birthday, reflects on her spiritual journey and experiences during her husband’s campaign. She noted, “I do not have anything against anyone… I knew the Grace factor was evident, and the Holy Spirit continually comforted me.”

Mrs. Tinubu shared insights from her book, discussing feelings of betrayal from some of her husband’s closest allies and the challenges faced during the elections. Despite these setbacks, she found solace in her faith, stating that “whatever good you do in life, it is only God who rewards you and not man.”

Her reflections also touch on the divisive nature of the 2023 elections, which saw President Bola Tinubu win amidst significant opposition. She drew parallels to Jesus’ teachings, urging readers to focus on doing good despite adversity.

The First Lady’s narrative underscores her belief in forgiveness and gratitude, linking her personal experiences to broader spiritual lessons. She encourages readers to seek strength in faith, emphasizing that true fulfillment comes from a relationship with God rather than reliance on human support.
