Former Senate Leader Ali Ndume has praised President Bola Tinubu for his recent appointments to key federal agency boards, describing them as timely and responsive to northern concerns. In a statement issued in Abuja, Ndume highlighted the appointments, including Lydia Musa as Chairperson of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority and Jamilu Aliyu as Chairman of the National Educational Research and Development Council.
Ndume emphasized that these appointments reassure the northern region and demonstrate Tinubu’s attentiveness to legitimate grievances. He noted that while the appointments reflect a commitment to the North, there is a need for similar inclusivity for the South-East in future appointments.
“The perception that the South-East has been neglected should not persist,” he stated, stressing the importance of equitable representation in line with the Federal Character principle. Ndume concluded by urging the President to prioritize broader national inclusivity in upcoming nominations, ensuring that all regions feel represented in the federal government.
