58-Year-Old Man Commits Suicide in Ogun State

Adeleye Alani, a 58-year-old man, tragically took his own life by jumping into a well in the Ori-Osoko Community of Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Tuesday, March 12, 2025. This heartbreaking incident was confirmed by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola.

According to reports, the deceased’s brother informed the police after his wife, Adetoyin Taiwo Adeleye, expressed concern over his whereabouts. After a search, his slippers were discovered near the well, raising alarms about his fate.

Odutola stated, “The Ogun State Police Command regrets to report a tragic incident of suicide in Ori-Osoko Community, where Adeleye Alani ended his life by jumping into a well. The incident was reported at approximately 6:00 AM by his brother, who received distressing news from Adeleye’s wife.”

Adetoyin returned home late on March 11 to find her husband missing. The discovery of his slippers next to the well led to the grim realization that he had jumped in.

Police were dispatched to the scene where they recovered the body and have since launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Odutola encouraged community members to seek support during difficult times and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.

“The deceased’s remains have been deposited at the mortuary, and an investigation is ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding this tragic event,” she added.

The Ogun State Police Command urges residents to prioritize emotional and psychological support in challenging situations.
