Supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have called on ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar to drop his rumoured 2027 ambition and back Obi instead.
The appeal was made on Saturday during a series of rallies held across Abia State to celebrate Obi’s 64th birthday. The events, tagged “One Million-Man March for Obi,” took place in Umuahia, Aba, Ohafia, and Uzuakoli.
Chanting pro-Obi slogans and waving banners, the enthusiastic crowd — known as the Obidients — said the former Anambra State governor remains the most credible alternative for 2027 and urged opposition forces to unite behind him.
They specifically appealed to Atiku to support Obi for the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), amid speculation about a possible political realignment ahead of the next general election.
